Cancer is a term applied for uncontrolled proliferation of cells which in some cases spread to other organs in the body (metastasis). Cancer is not a single disease but a group of more than 100 different diseases. Most cancers are named after the cell or organ in which they originate. Prevalence of various types of cancer depends on gender. Cancers of mouth/oropharynx are common in both males and females. Common cancers in females cancer of cervix, breast; in males cancer of lung, stomach and esophagus.
